Racing has always been the passion of TEAM Toy Store and has brought the dealership national exposure throughout Jim's professional racing career. Jim has earned several championships at various levels racing primarily Corvettes. In 1996 IKON Office Solutions sponsored the first "Grand Sport" Corvette to race since 1967. TEAM Toy Store debuted this car which they built for the St. Petersburg Grand Prix with Jim driving his #19 Trans AM Corvette to a 13th place finish. This also marked the official entrance that Corvettes came back into racing with the sponsorship of other professional race teams. As the C5 emerged on the scene in 1997 the team again built a brand new car for the 1998 season with Eckler's sponsoring a C5R for the Trans Am Series. Along with promotional tours and caravans to major shows promoting Corvette racing and the Legacy of Corvette, Jim Crist is also a collector of rare and vintage Corvette race cars. The #2 "Challenge Car" driven by Juan Fangio sits alongside the rarest Corvette ever not produced, the 1990 Corvette ZR-1 Convertible, built by Chevrolet, Lotus and Mercury Marine. These cars along with others have been featured numerous times in magazines like Corvette Fever and Corvette Enthusiast. Jim has also been considered a "go-to" source for information in the industry. As the dealership has been prominently displayed on the cover of these magazines over 5 times in the "How to Buy" a Corvette series.
